SuperLux symposium at TU Munich

header-light-symposium-2016 German scholars of light architecture are organising a SuperLux: Smart Light Art, Design and Architecture for Cities symposium at the Technical University of Munich 7 December 2016. Arranged by architectural lighting expert Dr Thomas Schielke (ERCO) and architect Lutz Harrer (TUM), the symposium is being sponsored and hosted by the TUM Architecture Faculty’s Acting Dean and Chair of Spatial Arts and Lighting Design, Professor Hannelore Deubzer.

Key speakers at the evening event include international architects, smart cities researchers and light artists: Thorsten Bauer (Urbanscreen, Bremen), Ingo Bracke (Studio Kybra, Detmold), Chris Bruckmeyr (Ars Electronica Center, Linz), Prof. Peter Droege (Liechtenstein Institute for Strategic Development, Vaduz/Berlin), Nuno Galvao (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture-LAVA, Stuttgart), Prof. Mary-Anne Kyriakou (University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Detmold), Dr Vesna Petresin (Goldsmiths College, Berlin/London) and Dr Susanne Seitinger (Philips Smart Lighting, Boston—by videolink). Also speaking will be SuperLux editor-curator Davina Jackson (Goldsmiths College, Sydney/London), VIA-Verlag publisher Joachim Ritter (Professional Lighting Design magazine, Gütersloh) and lighting design advocate Alison Ritter (Gütersloh).

Dr Schielke said the TUM symposium offers a significant opportunity for urban professionals, educators and students to clarify recent advances in smart lighting research, sustainability policy concepts and technically advanced creativity.

Videos from the 2015 SuperLux: Smart Light Cities exhibition (at City of Sydney Customs House) will be shown at the venue, the Vorhözler Forum, L5 Faculty of Architecture building, Arcisstrasse 21, 80333 Munich. The event time is  4–9.30pm (16.00–21.30) and the program schedule is here.
